FACADE STEELWORK
How to Coordinate a Facade Steelwork Fabrication Package
A guide for facade contractors and engineering offices defining drawings, interfaces, tolerances, finish and steel-package responsibilities.
Define the Steel Package and Its Boundaries
Identify secondary framing, supports, brackets or bespoke assemblies and whether supply and erection are required. Facade steelwork and the aluminium and glazing system are distinct packages. Define design responsibility, approved loads and fixing interfaces between the relevant project parties.
Coordinate Drawings and Interfaces
Provide facade layouts, structural details, sections and quantities with clear revisions. Identify interfaces with the main structure and specified tolerances and adjustment provisions. Dimensional or detail conflicts should be raised for review before fabrication rather than resolved through unapproved site changes.
Finish and Delivery Sequence
Specify coatings or galvanizing, surface preparation and isolation between materials according to project requirements and agreed responsibilities. Define piece marking, packing and deliveries by facade zone or erection phase, with responsibility for transport, lifting, fixings, erection and any subsequent repairs.
Keep the Enquiry Tied to a Defined Scope
Related Altabshi work includes facade steelwork as a subcontractor at Delta Marriott in Jeddah and structural and facade steel fabrication for the KAUST building project. These are defined work packages, not claims to complete facade-system delivery. Send your drawings for review of your project’s required steel package.
